One of my early mentors in improv said "fail gloriously," and I try to apply that whenever I can (it's not always easy on the ego to fail, but it sure can be informative). It's taught me how when you trust the people you work with, and yourself, you can absolutely fly. It's taught me to trust my instincts, and to lean into what's possible.

Briana Rayner is an improviser, actor, writer and filmmaker based in Vancouver, BC.

Briana grew up in a creative household on Vancouver Island, but didn't embrace her artistic side fully until after graduating from the University of Victoria with a BA in English Literature. After joining an improv company, she found her way into a career in the arts.

Improv taught her to trust her instincts; she left her role at a production company and went to Circle the Square Theatre School in New York, after which she relocated to Vancouver (always an islander at heart, though) where was co-Artistic Director Vancouver's hallowed improv institution, Instant Theatre.

Briana has facilitated and coached across a multitude of industries, including companies such as TD, Scotiabank, The Sauder School of Business, KPMG, Fraser Health, Teleflex and Microsoft. She's formerly a clown-doctor at a long-term care facility, where she, for once, intentionally tripped over her feet, told jokes, sang, and listened to the residents in care.

The skills developed in improv show up in every endeavour; it helps with connecting with others to build relationships, to stay present, and to adopt a mindset designed for thriving.

Briana's also a Registered Corporate Coach  with the WABC, and, in her spare time, she likes to bake and watch shark attack videos.
