The skills I've learned practicing improv have given me self confidence, high level performance skills and the ability to bring those into my regular life.
Brent Hirose is an actor, writer, director, improvisor, instructor and voice over artist based out of Vancouver, BC.
An honours graduate of the University of Winnipeg department of Film and Theatre, Brent spent a decade on the prairies where he was a founding member of Theatre by the River and The Horrible Friends improv troupe. He then relocated to the coast, where he joined Instant Theatre, and served as artistic director from 2016-2019. He is currently a cast member and instructor for Tightrope Improv Theatre, a member of the ensemble of Fistful of Kicks, Vancouver's all-Asian improv comedy troupe and the artistic director of The Spontaneous Shakespeare Company.
Brent has performed all over North America, including the Improvised Play Festival in Austin, TX, the Stumptown Impro Festival in Portland, OR and the Seattle Improv Festival. As well as being the lead instructor of the Improv for Brain Health Program at Improv for Work & Wellness, he also teaches with Vancouver Film School where he wrote and instructs the improv curriculum for the Essentials stream. He has also taught all over the lower mainland as part of the Young Actor's Project.
When Brent is not teaching or performing improv, he can be seen body slamming his way across the Pacific Northwest in his professional wrestler altar-ego (this is a real thing and not a joke!), and when he's not doing that he's most likely spending some quality time with his wife and cat.
